We are pleased to announce Malikca Lawrence as the recipient of our 2020 Louise Joanne Twerdy Leadership Bursary. Malikca, her mother and sister were hit by an impaired driver in 2019, resulting in significant injuries. She missed almost a month of school, and she and her sister had to take on many additional household and caregiving responsibilities while their mom was in hospital for over 5 months. With spirit, dedication and hard work, Malikca maintained a 91% average. She...’s now off to university with an ultimate goal of attending medical school. Congratulations Malikca! This bursary in named in memory of our dear friend and colleague Louise Joanne Twerdy, who was inspirational leader to all of us.
