Odd Couple Restaurant in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Travels with Odd Couple is a Dinner Set Series with menus featuring a particular region of Asian Cuisine. It’s not aimed to be authentic; rather it is an inspiration and a basis to merge Asian flavours with Saskatchewan / Canadian ingredients while having some fun. Our 2nd feature cuisine is Hong Kong. I was born and raised in HK and lived there until 1996, when I was 15. My parents and I immigrated straight to Wynyard SK, where my grandma and my Uncle Leo’s family lived ...and operated a restaurant at the time. We try to go back to HK as often as possible; we have visited HK every year in January since we opened Odd Couple. When most people think of HK food they think of Dim Sum, but I think it’s much more than that. I think of street food, HK Barbeque, seafood, and Hong Kong style cafes. For this particular menu, I think of my childhood memories. Items which my family used to eat when I was still living there. Our neighbour @9milelegacy brewed a special Hong Kong Porter, which uses jujube (Chinese Red Dates) and Chinese 5-spices. It will be available on tap, and 750ml crowler cans are available for pickup and delivery. @fableicecream is making White Rabbit Ice Cream. We use White Rabbit candy - the candy which I grew up with when I was a kid. We will be using this ice-cream to make a PB&J ice-cream sandwich, and a house made deep fried Bao Bun to make the sandwich. This icecream will also be available at @fableicecream starting tomorrow. We will be using @pineviewfarms pork, chicken and beef within this menu. We’ve decided to close tomorrow, Monday Nov 9 so that our staff can stay-in and maybe spend time shovelling snow. Also we will be closed this Wednesday Nov 11 for Remembrance Day.
