ON HER WAY: This 5 year old girl was found as a stray and was brought to a local shelter. She didn’t always look like this. With thanks to our friends at the Kingston Humane Society they tended to her heavily matted fur, and aggravated skin, but it was clear her skin and coat and poor appetite was only scraping the surface of her medical woes. ... She has been diagnosed with a pneumonia and is presently on medication to combat it, her lungs are of a concern as well as there is a suspicious spot seen on her recent xrays. She is on her way to our vet partners at Yonge-Davenport Pet Hospital where she will stay until we stabilize her and have a full overview of what she needs to be the picture of health. Please welcome, Susie, to our rescue.

SINGLE YOUNG MALE LOOKING FOR HIS SOUL DOG: We know what brought you here. For weeks, your dog has been giving you stink eye. Why? Because you tantalize them with hopes of having a sibling at home by your online searches of animal shelters, Petfinder and rescues, all the while satiating their desire for playful companionship by spending time at the dog park. ... You have been looking for the perfect dog that will love your dog as much as you do, one that will want to be joined at the hip and be partners in canine crime together. You have been looking for your dog's soul dog, and the dog has to be PERFECT for you too. A tall order. Finally, we want to assure you, you found him. Mission accomplished. Sit back. Exhale. And read on. Meet Koda. Koda Is a 1 year old Jack Russell Terrier Mix that originally joined our rescue last year, when we rescued his very pregnant mama from a local shelter. Koda was adopted out to a couple who thought they can provide for his needs, they thought he would be happy with just them, but he wasn't, they felt he was reactive to certain things at home and weren't interested in keeping him any longer. After Koda was surrendered back to us before Christmas, as sad as we were, we took the time to uncover what he truly needed in a household to excel, to really determine what was missing in his previous one, and to ensure we fully understood what he needed in his new one, and our findings were easily revealed. This young, small, sweet boy, is the Energizer Bunny of dog playmates. He loves other dog's and loves them more if they are as playful as he is. Koda is loveable, and sweet, and a cuddler to humans as well but he is all of those things and much more, in the company of another super playful dog (or 2 or 3) as he bonds with canine pals and will prove to be inseparable when he does. In a human owner, he will need a confidant person(s) who understands the quirkiness of terriers. One who will read his cues and continue to train him, as he is only 1 years old. When he was adopted, he was enrolled in puppy class and passed with flying colours, but training doesn't stop at that, we believe the asset of having playful canine siblings is what he needs to continue to thrive, and an owner who will continue to invest in training and teaching him the rules of engagement is what is required, is essential. Perfect dogs are not born, they are trained. And training never stops. If your lonely playful pup has made it known they need sibling companionship, look no further, Koda Is the perfect addition to a family (without kids) In need of adding another canine. Please contact his adoption coordinator, Rennie, at [email protected] or fill out an application at http://teamdogrescue.ca/you-can-help//adoption-application/ Thank you!

THE MANITOBA 13: We welcomed 13 beautiful dogs this weekend from Manitoba. For our rescue due to the logistics of ensuring every dog is in the ideal foster home and assigned one of our adoption coordinators and ensuring they have the supplies and support that they need and a very personal experience, 13 dogs in one transport is a large undertaking, for us, so we are really excited that we can help all these wonderful dogs and puppies find their furever homes. Thank you t...o all the volunteers who made this transport happen! Stay tuned for introductions to our Manitoba 13!

BIENVENU: Means "welcome" in French. This weekend we have welcomed 3 lovely dogs from Quebec and we couldn’t be more thrilled to do so. Please meet our bonded pair, they are 8 years old and unfortunately found themselves surrendered to a local Quebec because their owner passed away. ... They have been together their entire lives and love each other incredibly so and are a true definition of a bonded pair. They are fantastic with people, will dance on their hind legs for a treat and are an incredible upgrade to home security, if someone comes to your door, believe me, you will know. They both have some medical issues that will require continuous maintenance for the duration of their lives. Namely they both suffer from luxating patellas and they will require joint support in the form of cartrophen shots every month along with other supplements to ensure their comfort level for many many years to come. They will be visiting with our veterinarian next week to determine if there is anything further we can provide to ensure they are most taken care of. A very special thank you to the shelter for entrusting them into our care and additionally to Critter Cabs: Animal Rescue Transports for transporting them to us yesterday, we know they provided many kisses to the volunteer drivers to convey their thanks. These two are incredibly adorable and just as equally entertaining, and we so look forward to finding their utopia. Please welcome Princess ( the Pomeranian on the left) and Felix ( the shih tzu on the right ) to our rescue.

**NEW APPLICATIONS CLOSED - Due to overwhelming interest, we are no longer accepting new applications for Odyn. We thank everyone who shared, emailed, and posted about this sweet boy. We will be contacting those who have already submitted an application soon. Thank you!** EMOTIONAL SUPPORT HUMAN WANTED: Often at TEAM, we hear from many people who want to adopt a dog. When asked for why someone wants to adopt a dog, "companionship" is often provided as a reason. Dogs have been... our companions for eons and we have been their protectors. When a dog begins its life, they give us their unwavering and unconditional love, support and companionship. This time though, we are asking for a role reversal. We are seeking a special family to provide companionship to Odyn and see him through his golden years. Odyn is an approximately 11 year old, medium-sized dog. We have every reason to believe that he was loved and looked after well. Unfortunately, his owner had a sudden and unexpected life-threatening event leaving Odyn to be on his own and being fed by kind workers in his apartment building, and we were fortunate to be contacted so we could welcome him into our care as he was in dire need of help. . He came to us anxious, scared and confused but slowly came out of his shell in his foster home. Behaviourally, Odyn is a perfect gentleman. He is a mature dog who has already been through his puppy, adolescent and adult phases. He has done his job of being a loyal companion to humans. If fate had not intervened, he would be enjoying his golden years with his human. He has earned the right to retire in peace. He is now seeking a companion and a loving retirement home. He is a sweet soul that will bring a calm energy to any home. He is used to living with a cat and has been relaxed around dogs he has met on walks. He is friendly with people. He gets excited for his walks and though he walks slowly, he forces you slow down and appreciate the beauty that surrounds you. Medically, Odyn has some age-related issues that are common in older dogs. He has some muscle loss in his hind leg and back. He is on joint health supplements to help with his mobility and keep his legs strong. He shows some signs of canine cognitive dysfunction, and requires some routine and structure to his day. He also has some age-related dental issues. As we begin tending to Odyn's medical needs to ensure he is comfortable, we have been drawing up a blueprint of Odyn's ideal family. It is one that has a backyard, who can take him on a couple of short strolls around the neighbourhood, can provide a calm environment for him to snooze and be able to provide comfort and company to him. If you are interested in adopting Odyn, please complete an online adoption application at www.teamdogrescue.ca/adoptables. For more information on Odyn, you can contact his adoption coordinator, Gurleen, at [email protected]

CONFUSION: Tragedy can strike at any time, at any moment, on any given day. This 13 year old Shih Tzu unfortunately recently experienced a terribly tragedy, her owner passed away. She just lost the most important person to her, just like that. Her life was about to drastically change.... Before we continue telling you her story, we want to stop and take a minute to emphasize, this is a familiar story and will be YOUR story unless you make provisions for your pets. Stop reading please and take a moment to think, to really think of your wish list of where you would like your animals to live should something happen to you suddenly and you cannot care for them. Now call that person, and ask them the question, ask, if they will permit that you leave them your pets should you not be able to care for them. It doesn’t matter how old you are. You could be 30, 40 or 80. If any living being is dependent on you, you need to make provisions for them. Showering your pets with love while you are with them is important, but ensuring that continues to happen if your not here to provide it, is equally as important. Please, have the conversation with your loved ones today. Sadly, for this little girl, her owner didn't have many surviving family members, nobody else was able to take his precious dog in within his circle, and as a result, she was displaced and found herself at a local shelter, a shame, as it was clear, she was his most prized possession. Senior dogs are a shelter’s most vulnerable residents, and they truly are in most dire need of a change in venue. It can be so traumatizing and confusing for a senior to find themselves in new surroundings, a foster home at the very least can provide them with the comforts that they had come to know even though they are aware so much has drastically changed in their life. She Is very confused and very frightened. With time, we know she will let her guard down. With time, we will find her next chapter with a new family to call her own. Please welcome, Maddie, to our rescue. Thank you for joining her journey.

Happy Thanksgiving from our TEAM family to yours! Today, we're sharing some more reasons why our furever families are thankful for their rescue dogs this year. "We actually adopted our Joey on Thanksgiving, his 2nd gotcha day is coming up this weekend... we are thankful for his goofiness and his unconditional love - he is a best friend to us all." "I am thankful for Moo, who came into my life in 2019, and Frankie who bounced her way into my heart in 2020. Along with my re...scue dog Riley, they have made my home a place of joy, laughter and love." "We are so incredibly thankful for Sadie and Cooper! Our 2 daughters are thankful that basically they each have their own dog, as Sadie sleeps with our oldest every night and Cooper enjoys bedtime story time and snuggles with our youngest every night. Our lives would not be the same without these two." "I am so thankful for having the privilege of my favourite senior, Mr B, for almost 5 years and Lucy, for over 4 years. Having had purebreds before, I am now a convert to the rescue world. Currently Lucy is the best companion to have, especially when welcoming new dogs, as she is very open to greeting them all!" "We got our northern dog Tripp on June 6 of this year. We were struggling so bad with loneliness and empty house after we had to put our beloved Kota to rest after 15 wonderful years with her. Tripp is such a pleasant addition to our family." To learn more about how to help dogs like these, please visit: http://teamdogrescue.ca/you-can-help/

THANKFUL: "It is an indescribable feeling to be able to gain the love and trust of a dog who’s been through past hardships, and I’m so thankful that fostering gives me the opportunity to do it over and over again!" Behind each and every dog adopted through TEAM is a loving foster family who opened their home - and their hearts - to a dog in need. Our foster families are an integral part of our rescue, and they work hard to help their foster pup get ready to join the perfect ...furever family. It turns out that these dogs have a pretty big impact on their foster families as well. Here are a few of the reasons why our fosters are thankful for the dogs they helped rescue. "I am thankful for my previous foster, Latte (now Baxter) because he brought us endless joy and happiness. The amount that foster dogs can love humans after being let down in their previous home, makes you believe there is pure love... and it comes in the form of a dog." "I’m thankful for Boomer, the smartest, cleverest dog I have ever known... I’m thankful for the way he made every day fun with his shenanigans." "I am so grateful that divine timing worked its magic and this little lady found her way to me! Without sounding like a complete cheese ball, I think it’s safe to say my Roxy rescued me!" "I am thankful for fostering because each dog we’ve had in our home has gifted us with unconditional love, joy and laughs every single day!" FREEDOM: Every week, volunteers at Critter Cabs: Animal Rescue Transports conduct freedom transports from Quebec, to Ontario, welcoming animals in need of rescue placement from shelters throughout both provinces. Today, we have two dogs joining us through these transports, both from different directions, one dog (below) from Quebec, and another from a shelter in southwestern Ontario. You may look at this picture and see nothing more than a dog, in the front seat of a car dri...ving shotgun, as she is about to meet the next driver on her journey to Toronto. But let us tell you what you really are witnessing. A 9 year old tiny Jack Russell who has suffered a life of neglect and abuse. For 9 years she lived in deplorable conditions, in a cage, caked with her own excrement and urine. All. Day. Long. She will have a medical journey ahead of her, she is in dire need of a dental, a joint support regime that will keep her comfortable, but most importantly, as a result of her previous living conditions, getting her skin and chronic ear infections under control. And once we do, we will begin her quest to find her utopia with a family who will love her unconditionally and make up for the 9 years she lost. So you see, it is not just a dog in a car afterall. This, is freedom.

THANKFUL: Wishing our community of partners, volunteers, adopters and supporters a very happy Thanksgiving. In the spirit of giving thanks to our four-legged friends, our adopters and fosters have been telling us what makes them thankful for their rescue dogs, in hopes of inspiring others to #ThinkRescue. Over the next two days, we'll be sharing touching stories from our Foster & Furever Families about why they are thankful for the TEAM dogs that have come into their lives - ...starting with Gunther, Alaska, Duke and Rocky! Read their stories, and let us know why you're thankful for your rescue dog in the comments below. "I'm thankful for Gunther who helps me rehab other dogs." "We are SO thankful that Alaska came into our lives. He makes us laugh with his antics, love like we didn’t know we could, and believe that with enough patience and persistence a rescue dog from northern Ontario could become a trained and well behaved boy!" "The best thing about 2020 was Duke. We didn't know we could possibly add more love to our household until we brought him home. Sausage, Dookie, Short round, Doodoo, Duke.... He makes us happy." "We got Rocky in January so he just had time to properly settle in when Covid hit. His personality blossomed just when we needed it as lock- down happened. We are thankful for him every day because he helped us get out of the house, amused us with his husky woo-woos and antics. He is a much loved family member and we cannot imagine not having him in our lives."

FOR ADOPTION: Meet Doomin, a 1 year old fluffy northern dog of mixed breed (we suspect husky mix). He is quite the character and highly entertaining. He is quite simply an adorable dog that will burrow his way deep into your heart and never let go. Doomin came to TEAM from a remote community in northern Ontario. He is still getting used to life in the city and the various sights and sounds associated with it. He gets a little anxious at loud noises such as a truck or a bus p...assing by. He is focussed on anything that moves - he will sometimes bark and lunge at cars or cyclists passing by. This behaviour should decline after he has been neutered and gets more assimiliated to his surroundings. He has high prey drive and absolutely should not be in a home with cats or other small pets. He has met a couple of dogs on walks and has greeted them well. He has not been tested with kids but given his friendly demeanour, we expect that he will be good in a home with kids who are respectful of his boundaries and know how to interact with dogs properly. He is a dog that loves to lounge outside and is active, he will benefit highly from a home with a yard as a result. This boy is an easy-going, chill dog. He is friendly and happy. He is relaxed in the home and housetrained. Despite how much he enjoys being around people and follow them constantly, he does have an independent spirit and can be a bit of an escape artist. He is still learning and everyday presents more life lessons, he is an incredibly well rounded dog that would thrive as the apple of his family's eye. If you are interested in adopting Doomin, please complete our online adoption application at http://teamdogrescue.ca/you-can-help//adoption-application/ or for more information, please contact his adoption coordinator, Gurleen, at [email protected]

She had an owner who walked her regularly, who loved her unconditionally, and who spoiled her with attention and affection and kindness everyday. We will be tending to her medical needs which includes removing a mass on her belly. WELCOME TO OUR RESCUE: We work with numerous animal shelters throughout he GTA and beyond, and last week were asked to help someone who was looking to surrender their pet, a very loved dog, to whom a very loving family owned for16 years. Her story is quite different from the other dogs we continually welcome into our care, quite, the contrary. This little YorkiePoo has only known love. She had a wonderful family who took care of her. She has been adored and cherished by... this family since she was 6 weeks old, and has had a wonderful life, but, circumstances have drastically changed for her family. Her elderly parents found themselves struggling with their own mobility issues and declining health, they were dependant on others to help with their precious dog’s bathroom breaks, but its very difficult to depend on others, and it was a struggle to watch their loved one hold it in more then necessary or having accidents because they couldn’t. It was with many tears that they reached out to their local shelter in hopes of rehoming their little girl so she can experience the care that she deserves, the shelter felt a foster home environment was the very best solution for a senior pup of her age, and we were contacted as a result. We promised her owners that we have a great community of dog lovers backing us, which include all of you, and we will find the utopia she needs. A special thank you to foster mom Shannon, who is ensuring she is spoiled every minute of her waking day. Please welcome, Molly, to our rescue.

WELCOME TO OUR RESCUE: This 11 year old Papillon mix was found wandering the streets of Montreal lost and alone and brought to a local shelter. Surely a dog this sweet and adorable has an army of people looking for him, but sadly, he did not and he was left unclaimed. This past weekend he was delivered to us, care of Critter Cabs transport team, where he is now settling in his foster home. He is 11 years old and although a delightful and spirited little boy, he is also one ...that is plagued with an extensive list of medical issues that need tending to. He likely hasn’t seen a vet in a very, very, long time in his previous dwelling. He will require a great deal of dental work as his mouth is plagued with rot and decay and the stench of infection is evident. He also has a grade 4 heart murmur that will have to be monitored, additionally, he has also tested Lyme positive that he is now getting treatment for, furthermore, he has a cryptorchide(undescended) right testicle, that will have to be fixed, and good grief, just when we didn’t think it possible he can endure anymore, he has grade two luxating patella’s on his legs and will require joint supplements to strengthen his legs and keep him comfortable for the duration of his life. He will be seeing our vet partners so we can begin his treatment towards health and comfort. A tall order. But. The reason why he is worthy of a second chance at a new life? Senior’s are a shelters most vulnerable residents, and they truly are in most dire need of a change in venue. It can be so traumatizing and confusing for a senior to find themselves in new surroundings, a foster home at the very least can provide them with the comforts that have to come to know even though they are aware so much has drastically changed in their life. That is why he is worthy, that is why we will continue to welcome, dogs, in most dire need of help. Please welcome, Marius, to our rescue.

Northern dogs have made incredible additions to many a family that make up our alumni, they are phenomenal family pets and we are so thrilled to be able to help and are excited to have you meet them. Stay tuned.....more to come! As Ontario continues to reopen, TEAM is bracing for the inevitable: an overwhelming number of dogs finding themselves in local shelters through no fault of their own. Many of these dogs will require costly medical attention, limiting their chances of finding adoptive families. TEAM has made it our mission to never turn our backs on shelters’ most vulnerable residents: senior and medical dogs. We believe that every dog deserves a second chance and a loving home. In fact, over... 90% of every dollar raised so far this year has gone directly towards covering medical costs for our dogs. We want to keep helping the dogs who need us most. But in order to save them, we need you. Please give today and help deserving dogs in need. TEAM Dog Rescue 01.06.2020

FOR ADOPTION: A few months ago, photos of this 3 year old German Shephard, lactating and on the run and seeking refuge in an abandoned barn, was circulating across Facebook and many calls were being made to volunteers of the lost pet search group, Team Chelsea. Due to their efforts, she was successfully secured so she can get the help that she so needed at a local shelter. Vets examined her upon intake and believed she may have recently had puppies, all efforts were made t...o find her puppies and unfortunately, none were located. Her examination revealed the onset of mastitis and lochia from giving birth and she has had a very steady recovery since from the infections, healing from the physical and getting into a balanced state, so she can be ready for the next chapter of her life. Stella has now been in our care for the last month and is currently living with a loving and patient foster family who are trying to help her build her confidence. She also has a canine brother who has the perfect personality in that he is showing her the way in a calm and gentle manner and she has learned to trust him implicitly. She sleeps right next to him every night and seems to only want to eat when he’s nearby. It is therefore very important that she have another dog in the household as that’s one of the things that makes her feel safe and secure. She has made great strides in the few weeks in foster care and likely will continue to in her forever home when she feels safe and welcomed. Stella loves to run and play in the backyard and enjoys her walks too. It is imperative that she have a fully fenced yard as she is a flight risk. We know that when Stella overcomes some of her fears her sweet and gentle personality will shine through. As she has a high prey drive, Stella is not suited to a home with cats or other small animals. She should also be in a child-free residence, not because she is aggressive, but because she startles easily. Stella is a pup who will need to warm up, but when she does she is going to make the other canine in your household thrilled to have a lifemate, and you will radiate with happiness knowing this once petrified dog, is thriving in a household that she can finally call her own. Applications can be found here: http://teamdogrescue.ca/you-can-/adopt/adoption-application and adoption inquiries can be made to Stella's adoption coordinator, Michelle, at [email protected] Thank you for sharing Stella with your network.
